Fall has started off busy for Thrive Clermont. During the month of September, Thrive Clermont’s team focused on promoting the organization’s upcoming events to others within Central Florida, hosting our first mental health workshop, and launching our fall Adulting Series.
The month began with the monthly Teen Advisory Council (TAC) meeting, where Lake County Commissioner and Vice-Chairman {Sean Parks} talked to the TAC about the importance of the youth voice and opinion in (Lake County Florida) planning and policy implementation. This helped many members of the TAC feel empowered to introduce issues facing them in their current day-to-day lives, in hopes of improving Lake County for everyone in the coming few decades. As a result of this meeting, Lake County will be attending Thrive’s October event to gather Teen and Adult feedback for the County’s 2050 Planning Process.
On September 20th Thrive hosted its inaugural Parent Workshop on Teen Mental Health, which aimed to educate parents on strategies and resources to help their children succeed. A panel of mental health professionals brought insight and inspiration for parents to navigate their teens’ years.
And to end the month, Thrive’s Fall Adulting Series kicked off with our Find Your Fit Workshop, held on September 29th. Many thanks to our Instructors and Coaches for the event, Doris Jackson-Shazier, Andrea Brooks, and Leslie Mizerak. After a personality assessment, students broke into groups based on their type for group discussions. Post event surveys indicated that 100% of participants felt the knowledge gained in the workshop will support them in their future careers.

We just had Thrive’s Work in the Trades Event and we’re extremely excited for a great attendance.
September 19th, members of the TAC along with Board Members, Mary Lachiusa and Sheri Lewin set up a tent during the Clermont Wine Stroll at Sunshine Book Co, This was a fun night where Thrive offered free popcorn and shared program information to raise awareness and funds!
Thrive’s Teen Advisory Council members continued to spread awareness on projects and upcoming events with a display table at the local South Lake Junior Women’s Club’s “How to College” Fall Event. This annual seminar and expo offered support in a variety of areas for college-bound students from our region.
