Thrive Clermont's September Newsletter

As fall begins, the Thrive Clermont team celebrated a major milestone, offered a skill building workshop for the Teen Advisory Council, and continued the advance work for Thrive’s first Teens Got Talent Showcase. September gave Thrive several opportunities to connect with community partners and create meaningful experiences for local teens.

September was special for Thrive Clermont as the organization celebrated 10 years of Empowering Teens to Succeed. Thrive joined the @South Lake Chamber of Commerce for the Chamber’s First Responder’s Breakfast, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating Thrive’s 10th anniversary. Recognized a decade of growth, community support, and programs designed to help local teens build skills, confidence, and connections. Since 2016, Thrive has served over 4,000 young people through educational programs, mentorship, leadership opportunities, and other youth-focused initiatives.

Thrive’s Teen Advisory Council in person meeting for September focused on an important life skill: setting S.M.A.R.T. goals. With the guidance of Doris Jackson-Shazier, TAC members learned how to create goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. These young leaders got the opportunity to think about their own goals and how breaking a larger goal into clear steps can help make it more achievable.

Preparations for Thrive’s first annual Teens Got Talent Showcase were in full swing in September. The selected performers gathered for rehearsal. The October 22 Showcase, presented in partnership with the City of Clermont and Landi-Lou Talent Agency, will feature local teen singers, dancers, musicians, and other performers.

During rehearsal, Thrive Executive Director @Sheri Lewin and several of the teen performers were interviewed for a feature story on @SouthLake TV.  The upcoming Teens Got Talent Showcase will give local teens the opportunity to receive professional coaching support and perform for a large community audience. Tickets are on sale and details can be found at www.thriveclermont.org/teensgottalent

With October just around the corner, we look forward to seeing the community come together for the Teens Got Talent Showcase on October 22. It will be another great month of empowering teens to succeed!
