What is TAC?
Thrive Clermont Teen Advisory Council (TAC) offers opportunities for up to 40 students annually, to be directly involved in the creation, planning and execution of programs offered to area teens. Each TAC member receives individual mentoring to identify and build the students’ skills. This diverse council offers a unique opportunity for students who serve to experience volunteer/leadership roles that enrich learning.

Students are guided and motivated at monthly meetings. Using an approach inspired by the Harkness Method, the student receives advance information and resources on the monthly self-leadership topic. The meeting creates the opportunity for participation from all members facilitated by our founder, Sheri Lewin. The student’s development in communicating ideas in a group setting while practicing active listening, grows noticeably over the six-month period of service. This program has raised confidence and self-awareness in participating students.

As a result, TAC members regularly interact in the community with local government officials, business owners, and community leaders to promote Thrive’s mission, Empowering Teens to Succeed. These students are giving an authentic voice to an underserved demographic. Additionally, members of the TAC have had high levels of success in acquiring jobs, internships, and scholarships.
