Thrive Clermont’s October Recap

With the sudden change in temperature, and continuous planning for future events, October was a month of excitement and growth at Thrive Clermont. To start off the month, members of Thrive’s Teen Advisory Council, along with Sheri Lewin, attended National Night Out in Clermont, and they were able to share Thrive’s upcoming opportunities with central Florida residents.

The Teen Advisory Council visited the Annex in Groveland for their monthly in-person meeting, where they laid out their plans for the Work In The Trades Event, experienced a new method of mental relaxation with doodling, and visited the Food Trucks at City of Groveland’s 2nd Friday Market.

Other outreach in October included a tent at the Clermont Wine Stroll in Downtown Clermont and the South Lake HS vs East Ridge HS football game.  Our outreach team from the Teen Advisory Council had a full month of opportunities to inform local teens about Thrive’s events and opportunities.

At Thrive’s Work In The Trades event, over 20+ different employers, from all across Central Florida, hosted booths at the Nathaniel Community Gymnasium. Over 100 event attendees were able to discuss potential careers in a variety of fields.  Students and parents enjoyed seasoned popcorn and local food trucks. The Mayor of Groveland was on hand to talk with the employers and attendees about the future of Groveland and everyone attending had the opportunity to  provide input for Lake County’s 2050 Development Plan via a special survey for youth.

Be sure to look out for Thrive’s next events! Car Buying 101 will be happening in November, and the Thrive Ice Cream Social, which will be on December 13!
