Thrive April Newsletter

April was a month filled with tremendous milestones, community partnerships, and exciting celebrations for the Thrive Clermont team!

We began the month on a strong note with our 100th Teen Advisory Council Meeting, held at the Downtown Clermont Historic Village. This 100 meeting milestone reflected the consistency, collaboration, and growth of Thrive Clermont over the past ten years. Additionally, Thrive’s inaugural High School Leadership Scholarship announced its winners, and Sheri Lewin presented the awards alongside the Legacy Events for Education Foundation. The winners of the $1000 college scholarship were also honored at their respective award ceremonies at their schools! Congratulations to Jasmine Gaines, East Ridge High School and Yanilka Almonte, Real Life Academy.

Mid month, members of Thrive’s Teen Advisory Council attended the Kiwanis Club of Clermont and the Kiwanis Club of South Lake meetings to share program updates. Both Clubs were eager to partner for our upcoming Summer PopUps.  Clermont Mayor, Tim Murry even took some time to talk to our TAC members after one of the meetings.

We closed out the month with a virtual PopUps Fundraiser streamed via zoom and facebook, which celebrated Ten Years of Thrive’s Summer PopUps program. The April 29th online celebration included our founder, Sheri Lewin, sharing the origin story of Summer PopUps, stories of impact and reflections on PopUps from Past Participants and Popular Instructors   Thank you to everyone who participated in our online auction or with a sponsor-a-teen donation. The online event raised $4,000 to support our ongoing planning for the Summer PopUps!

We are still seeking additional Sponsor-a-teen donations to cover our costs for an at risk teen to attend Summer PopUps. Each $25 sponsor-a-teen donation allows us to continue to offer free program attendance and transportation stipends to at risk students in Lake County.

In reflection, April was a month of growth, partnership, and community impact.  We’re excited to carry this energy forward into the months ahead!

Be on the lookout for information on Thrive’s Summer PopUps and also our fall plans and how your local business can get involved!
