March was a busy and impactful month for Thrive Clermont, with opportunities in leadership, community engagement, and professional growth. Members of the Teen Advisory Council had the opportunity to connect with local leaders, participate in outreach at community events, and make meaningful contributions to support local youth.
The month started off strong with a Teen Advisory Council meeting at Mainstreet Community Bank. Members of the TAC participated in an interactive Leadership lesson from Sheri Lewin which highlighted the role of each student in controlling their direction towards their goals. Furthermore, Kitrina Henderson of Lake Apopka Natural Gas shared details about their internship programs and scholarships for seniors. The TAC also planned for the busy month, while also reflecting on how much has been achieved already.
During Spring Break, several teens also assisted in organizing the Thrive Office in preparation for the Downtown Clermont Wine Stroll and the annual Pig On The Pond Event. TAC members each participated in these outreach events to serve the community, build connections, and share about Thrive’s upcoming programs..
Finally, Thrive’s “Think Like An Entrepreneur" event highlighted the importance of adult mentorship in advancing youth opportunities. Hosted at the Community Foundation of South Lake, students heard from inspiring speakers including Sheri Lewin, J. Brian Miles, and Doris Shazier Jackson, and participated in breakout sessions that encouraged questions, discussion, and real-world learning. The event provided valuable insight into starting projects, developing ideas, and navigating personal and professional growth

Seeing local business owners mentor students feels personal — when I started my small project, recording talks with experienced entrepreneurs was a mess because my camera generated huge files that wouldn’t play on other devices. Just before a deadline, I found https://www.movavi.com/movavi-video-converter.html and quickly converted everything to a compatible format and even compressed videos without losing quality. That freed up hours to actually focus on the workshop content instead of tech issues. So I’m really glad Thrive Clermont is teaching both the mindset and the practical side — having the right tool to manage your media can be as crucial as having a good mentor.
