Through Thrive Clermont’s Adulting Program, Lake County students have the chance to learn from local professional and trade employers during interactive events throughout the school year. Since 2019, the Adulting Program has focused on career exploration, college readiness, and personal financial literacy. Whether students are college bound, exploring options in the trades, or still unsure, the Adulting Program supports student knowledge and confidence to move forward in making decisions for the future.
Thrive Clermont’s Adulting Workshops and Events take place at various locations in Clermont.
The 2022 lineup included:
EXPLORING COLLEGES field trip to attend the LSSC College Fair in Leesburg. Over 50 schools were present.
PERSONAL FINANCE interactive workshop guides students in developing a personal Budget, learning about Credit Scores and factors effecting car insurance rates. Students then finish with a “mock” car purchase with CarMax based on what they learned.
WORK IN THE TRADES event - Students learn about Lake Technical College’s various programs and students got to visit a variety of trade employer tables such as; Duke Energy, Woodard & Curran, The Lab Hair Studio, Carmax, City of Groveland, South Lake Hospital, AdventHealth, Open Wireless, Advance Electric and more!
FINDING YOUR FIT included Students taking a personality self-assessment and then participating in an interactive coaching session on understanding which careers and work environments suit their personality.
